Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) was started by the Government of India to promote research activities in social sciences. It has a wide network of institutes and also funds Universities like Kurukshetra on various research projects.
ICSSR provides comprehensive guidelines , fellowships, and grants to further the cause of research in social sciences. It collaborates with international partners and also publishes journals and newsletters.
Currently, ICSSR is funding a research project entitled, “The Multi-dimensional Analysis of Social Exclusion in Haryana”. The Department of Economics, University College, Kurukshetra University, has been given the sanction to conduct research. The research work will happen under the able guidance of Dr. Pradeep S. Chauhan who has been designated as the ICSSR Project Director.
The current project focuses on social exclusion and marginalization in society. This project seeks to understand the divisions in a complex society like India, along with economic problems like poverty. The research project takes into consideration the current situation in the state of Haryana. Modern, scientific, and professional methods of multi-dimensional analyses are then employed. There is one only Research Assistant post available for this ICSSR sponsored project as of now.
A Research Assistant in the field of social sciences has many responsibilities. These include surveys, conducting research, providing assistance to seniors in both office and field activities, maintenance and writing work.
The duties of the Research Assistant vary depending on the project specifications and budgetary constraints.
