About Gauhati High Court
Established back in the year 1948, on March 1st the Gauhati High Court came into being. The High Court came into existence after an act was passed by the Government of India. Originally, it was known as High Court of Assam and Nagaland, which then, later on, was renamed as Gauhati High Court In the year 1971. It has a control and jurisdiction over states such as Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Nagaland. After the Independence, in the year 1947, a felt was needed to have a High Court established in Assam. After that, later on, by discussions, Gauhati High Court came into being known as High Court of Assam. Inaugurated in the year 1948 by the Chief Justice of India who is still known as the very first Chief Justice in the Assam High Court. After some reforms then the High Court was renamed as the Gauhati High Court.
