Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 2016-2020
The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana or PMKVY was established by Prime Minister of India under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in order to benefit unskilled, skilled, unemployed, dropout candidates. The Skill Certificate helps obtained Industry Level experience for those who take this certification in order to live a better livelihood. The Scheme has been relaunched in order to benefit 10 million youths in coming four years. Note that the candidates who undertake this certification will not have to bear any assessment fees or training fees are paid by the Government of India.
Eligibility Criteria of PMKVY:
The applicants must be a fresher with qualification of 10th or 12th class with dropouts included which are eligible for the scheme.

- It has provided Monetary Awards for Training and Skill Certification for more than 2.4 Million youths to enhance their productivity at work.
- The Training and enhancement in the skills directly corresponds to increase in their contribution in development of the country.
- As per statistics, 8,000/- Rupees will be credited to the trainee directly in the bank account.

Key Components of PMKVY:
- Short Term Training –
The applicants with Indian Nationality and those who are either unemployed or dropouts can apply for PMKVY for which the Training will be given at TCs. The applicants will get training from NSQF and other important aspects such as Digital Literacy, Soft skills, and Entrepreneurship, etc to ensure overall development. The total training time varies between 150 to 300 Hrs and with successful certification, the applicants will be provided guidance and assistance by Training Partners. The Training provided under Short Term Training will consists of Training under NSQF Level 5 and below.
- Recognition of Prior Learning –
Those candidates who have prior skills or work experience can avail this training which is certified by the Recognition of Prior Learning under PMKVY Scheme. The components helps train the candidates as per Industry standards and award certificate validating their certification.
- Special Projects

- Kaushal and Rozgar Mela
The Kaushal and Rozgar Mela is organized every six months to facilitate the candidates for transparent and accountability. The Mela also provides employment to all those who had acquired the certification.
- Placement Guidelines
The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana has multiple Training Centres where the aspirants are trained as per industry standards. The TCs also builds aptitude, knowledge, and aspiration which drives the candidates to become a skillful employ and for which the scheme provides Placement Opportunities. The Scheme also extends required supports for development of entrepreneurship.
- Monitoring Guidelines
To maintain the high quality standards as per its objective, various inspection agencies and NSDC make use of various methodologies such as call validations, self-audit reporting, surprise visits, and other methods to ensure and enhance the engagement of technologies as per prescribed in its objectives.
