PESB Recruitment 2016 – Directors, Chairmen Posts

A number of vacancies for the posts of Directors, Chairmen, and Managing Directors in various departments of different PSUs (Public Sector Unit) has been notified by the PESB Recruitment 2016.


PESB or Public Enterprises Selection Board was constituted by GOI to perform an advisory role and for determining good management policy for PSUs. It advises the central government on top management appointments.

The functions of PESB include Government recruitment for top level functionaries like Directors, Managers, and Chairmen. In addition, the board advises the GOI on various issues pertaining to tenures, service terminations, performance appraisal systems, and PSE performance evaluation.

According to the PESB Recruitment 2016, the department of personnel and training invites applicants to apply for various senior positions at different PSUs. The vacancies are of Chairman, Director, Managing Director, in departments like HR, Marketing, Personnel, Finance, Commercial, Technical, Project and Technology, etc., at various PSUs like BSNL, BEL, NFL, BPCL, IOCL, etc.,

The total number of vacancies of relevance listed at the official website are 13 in number excluding the vacancies for which application process has finished.

Job Description:

All the vacancies are forare for senior officials including Directors, Chairmen. The executives have to perform administrative duties in various departments like Finance, Engineering, HR, and Marketing. Eligible candidates with requisite qualifications perform duties which include recruitments, effective communications, reviews, decision-making, and policy formulation.

Competent candidates with leadership skills, planning and coordination abilities, with a flair for board-related work are invited.

Notification Details:

The official notification of PESB Recruitment 2016 mentions vacancy details like title of post, PSU name where the post is vacant, basic salary along with last date of application receipt. All these particulars are found on the official website of PESB.

THE Central Public Sector Enterprises or CPSEs are categorized in four Schedules namely ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ and ‘D’ based on based on various quantitative, qualitative and other factors. The notification issued by PESB also clearly mentions the Sch. of CPSE , and interested candidates can make an informed choice.

Required Qualification:

As per the advertisement issued by the PESB Recruitment 2016, the required qualification for the different posts are given below –

  • Project Director posts require Engineering graduates with commendable academic record from recognized university. MBA or Management PG Diploma are a plus.
  • Marketing Director posts require graduates or Engineers; Additional MBA or marketing discipline experience is welcome.
  • Finance Director posts require CA or cost accountant or MBA- Finance with academic record that is good from recognized universities.
  • Technical Director posts require graduates or Engineers with good track record in academics. MBA or management PG diploma is a plus.

The notifications specific to each and every post mentions additional qualification requirements. Many positions have qualification relaxation for internal candidates or for government employees with adequate experience.

Age Limit:

As per the advertisement issued by the PESB Recruitment 2016, the lower age limit of candidates should be 18 years. The upper age limit of candidates for various posts in PSUs will be in accordance with government directives. Relaxation in age reserved category (SC/ ST/ OBC) will be according to the rules and regulations of PSEB.

Selection Process:

According to the notification released by the PESB Recruitment 2016, 2016, the Selection Process for the aforementioned posts will be based on merit where the candidates will have to attend interview which will be subsequently. The applications will be assessed and the eligible candidates will be called for interview. The selection committee at the NRSC will decide shortlisting, and selection or rejection of the candidates, which is binding.

Salary Structure:

As per the advertisement issued by the PESB Recruitment 2016, the salary in terms of basic pay for the different posts has been mentioned clearly in the above table. The salary varies for different posts and also from PSU to PSU and is in the range of Rs. 65,000/- to Rs. 1,25,000/-
